StarMakers Skills Training - "SST" (U5-U8)

What is SST?
SST is a unique program that is designed to teach players as young as 4 years old the techniques of soccer skills, and to create players who are skillful and confident.
The program is fun-filled and consists of a series of activities that are short, varied and lively.
Players begin at level 1for their first season, and continue in their next season to level 2, and so on for many seasons.  Each season reinforces the basic soccer skills, incorporating them into a game setting and building on them, in the same fun-filled design for graduated learning. Each session includes a warm up, a variety of short activities that teach various basic skills, activities to implement the skills into a game, and 2 scrimmages. Players are grouped into teams according to age and/or special preference.
There is one or more trained instructor who demonstrates the activity to the players in a positive, caring and fun manner so that the players gain confidence with the soccer ball while they are learning soccer skills.

What ages can register for SST?
Players can be from 4 years old and up to be registered in SST.   The players are put onto teams according to their age and/or preferences.  Most are ages 4,5,6,7,8.
The program is also offered to older beginner players who need to learn basic soccer skills so they can merge into regular competitive teams.

When is SST available?
SST takes place each Friday for 10 weeks in the fall and spring.  Each session runs from 6 to 7pm.

How is SST different from MODS soccer?
SST instructors are specially trained to teach the skills in the program, and the chief instructor oversees the whole program each session.  SST is held on Fridays, and MODS is held two or three times a week. The SST players learn in a low-competitive no-pressure environment on the field, and they make contact with the ball many times during each session.  MODS train for competitive play.

Does SST have competitive games?
During training each week, each player participates in 2 scrimmages.   After the training a competitive game is offered to those players who want to participate.  This takes place straight after SST each week at the same location.  This is available to all players in SST except those who are both Under 5 and in their first season with SST.

What makes SST so popular?
The players really like the frequently changing variety of activities that keep them active, as well as the fact that they can all feel good about what they are doing at the time.
The overwhelming comments heard from SST players are “Wow!  That was so much fun”,  and “Is it Friday yet?”  “
The overwhelming comments heard from SST parents are “She’s getting ready for SST as early as Monday ”, and “He absolutely loves SST and can’t wait for the next session”.
The overwhelming comment heard from trained SST instructors is “It’s only half way through the season and the skill level of the players has improved so much in such a short time”.
